Greace Corps Berets ...

Readin' the ol' McChrystal story, whoa, what a dusie. Anyway, at one point, Hastings gives readers a little COIN background, and puts it into perspective with this insouciant analogy, describing the nu McChrystal COIN op warfare,
"Think the Green Berets as an armed Peace Corps."
My, that does conjure some pleasant thoughts, doesn't it?
"You wanna latrine? You want a fucking LATRINE?! And what the hell are you doing about it? dipshit!

Well, muthafucker! get diggin', yu useless piece a shit, k-tchk, now, MOVE! MOVE! MOVE!

Dig you shitheads, DIG! NOW! NOW! NOW!!!
And poof, no more third world.

Actually, that will more like happen just because they blow it the fuck up.

And may I just interject to say, some of Hastings remarks are really quite bizarre. Actually, these are the only two. Anyway, take this, for example, or, here's the other one:
Spending hundreds of billions of dollars on the fifth-poorest country on earth has failed to win over the civilian population, whose attitude toward U.S. troops ranges from intensely wary to openly hostile.
Good grief! Is this what he thinks is going on? Perhaps he means billions of dollars in bombs that fall "on the fifth poorest country on earth." Is so, then, really, how can one not be amazed that Afghans are "openly hostile" to US troops?

Dude, the Pentagon is not "spending hundreds of billions of dollars on" Afghanistan. It is spending hundreds of billions of dollars on weapons, and troops, and bribing the Taliban for supply routes, and flying drones, and doing a hundred things that you have never dreamed of; they are spending the money "on" themselves and their well-connected friends. All Afghanistan gets out of the deal is the fallout.
